I spoke with a woman the other day whose father has just suffered a heart attack. Thankfully he had a friend in the home at the time who was able to call 911 and get help. He was rushed to the hospital and is now recovering and will be going back home shortly. This scared her and she wondered what would happen if he was home alone at the time of the heart attack without the protection of an elderly monitoring system.
1.5 million heart attacks occur in the US every year. One third of those result in death. However, there is only a 6% to 9% mortality rate from those who survive long enough to get to the hospital. Basically getting help fast is the key to survival. An elderly monitoring system for senior citizens worn around the neck or wrist, can be the lifeline a senior needs in that critical first golden hour.
