Happy Holidays! I'm sure you are happy to be back home spending time with your family. While you are home there are a few things you should do. If mom has one of these personal security alarms in her home, go ahead and test it with her. Let you mom drive! She'll just press the button on her medical emergency necklace and wait for an operator to speak to her over the speaker. Once they do, she will tell that operator that she is just testing. Your mom should be testing once a month, so if she doesn't have this marked on her calendar help her do so!

Personal Security Alarms come with a medical panic button and a console with a speaker box.   The console needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet as well as a phone jack.   It connects to your land line, VOIP line or cable bundle package so the monitoring center can have an operator communicate with the senior via the speaker box.  Be sure to tell the medical panic button company who your phone provider is and what kind of phone connection it is. Then they can make sure you have the appropriate equipment.

It is so important to be familiar with the phone company that you use. Almost all phone companies will be compatible with a medical panic button.  However, depending on which phone company you do have, the company will send you a system compatible for that specific company. For example, people who use a cable bundle package receive a different console than those who have a standard land line.

If you already have a compatible land line, but have to move or change your phone company, do your homework. The best way to detect which company has lots of complaints for predatory sales tactics is to go on Google and search “Complaints against (Their Company Name)”.   You will be shocked how many complaints appear from untold numbers of customers who feel they were duped from companies who sell elderly monitoring devices.  Take the time to read them and you will save yourself a great amount of grief.
