Florida has such a strong senior culture - with all of the wonderful people there just enjoying life and retirement. In my experience, Florida seniors tend to know more about how a medical alert necklace works. Maybe they have a number of friends who already use a medical alert, or maybe people in Florida just get to see a lot more advertisements for these devices. Being so exposed to medical alert systems is a very good thing. Seniors there wear their medical alert necklace with a lot of pride. They know that it means that they are taking care of themselves - whether their doctor recommended it or they thought it'd be a smart idea on their own. Seniors throughout the rest of the country could learn a thing or two from Florida. I'm always surprised when someone doesn't want to wear their medical alert necklace in front of friends. Being protected and taking care of yourself is a big thing to be proud of!
[Read More...]Some people are skeptical when we initially tell them that the medical alert's two-way communication will work in up to a 3000 sq ft home. We always recommend starting off by doing a walk around test after the system is delivered and you have it plugged in. This test demonstrates the area that you will be able to speak back and forth with our operator. Today I helped a daughter and her father set up the system over the phone. When it came time to test we had the father walk from room to room until he was in the back bedroom, the daughter was surprised that the medical alert microphone was able to pick up her fathers voice. This was in a part of the house that she could barely hear him from… Medical alert technology has certainly come along way. We're always excited to see what's next!

Clarice

Hi Clarice,
The Senior Medical Alert is waterproof and safe to us in the home shower or bath but not in the pool. The chemicals are not safe for the pendant so we would recommend taking off the necklace or wristband before she swims and then making sure to put it back on afterward.
I hope this helps,
Noah
[Read More...]Hawaii is one of my favorite places to visit! I was in Oahu last summer. We had the best time sitting on the most beautiful beaches. Although we spent most of our time in Honolulu, I made it up to the North Shore, and had a pie at Sunset Pizza. What a great time! We have supported so many health agencies and fire departments in Hawaii with the Vial of Life program and we have 100's of medical alert clients throughout the state. I found I always liked the people from Hawaii!
Honolulu is a fun city! I was lucky enough to travel to Oahu last summer. I spent time at the Bishop Museum and the warm Waikiki beaches. What a great time! As is my custom, I had an opportunity to visit 2 of our medical alert system clients. They are lucky to live in such a beautiful place. A piece of my heart will always be in Honolulu.
I hear Hilo is a great place to visit. One of my friends was there recently. She enjoyed driving Banyan Drive and got to see a few traditional Hawaiian hales. It sure sounds like fun. I would love to visit a few of our medical alarm customers who live in the area! I always have a great time when I visit Hawaii.
