Your Question:

Could you please tell me the distance range your alarm works for?

OR– How far away from the “box” does the signal work?

My mother likes to feed her cats in the back yard. Would the signal be picked up there if she needed help?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Brenda

Hi Brenda,

The range of our medical alert systems are approximately 300′ to 400’ from the speaker box, of course as you have asked, this must be tested in the local environment to see how far it really reaches.

I love that your mother feeds her cats in the back yard, it’s not only good exercise for her, but provides much warmth, love and participation. These are all things I believe lead to a longer and happier life. And of course, I am a cat lover. My cat named Spooky is a huge 25 pound black cat.

The reach of our help button outside does not include the ability to talk to her outside of her home, but we will be notified she is in trouble and send help immediately. The voice-to-voice component of our speaker box works well within approximately a 3500 square foot home.

Regardless of which company you choose, thinking of a medical alert service for your mom is a great idea for your mom.

Thanks for your question,

Jeff

Today I received an insightful question from a concerned possible client, she asked a good question about “How many complaints have we had in the past five years about our elderly alert systems?” And she wanted to know how they were resolved?l

Here’s my answer to Sally’s question:

Hi Sally,

Well dealing with seniors who at times are feeling angry about many things…their health, their families, their income…sometimes they dump on us. Those are one type of complaint.

I have a gal Michelle who has her Master’s Degree in Psychology who we use to defuse much of their misdirected anger, almost always Michelle talks with them for as long as they need and solves their problems and turns them into happy campers. No one can bat 100%.

Now what I suspect you are really asking about are what kind of bad things we have done that have been reported to the authorities. We have done none! We are one of the few larger national medical alarm services that have not only an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau…but also, have zero complaints on all the years we have been in business. I pride myself in hiring kind and caring staff.

We resolve all issues to the clients favor in lieu of our own. That is except for those people who are unhappy because we ask them to pay their bills. What can I say?

If there is an issue with our equipment we send out new equipment overnight at no charge. We will spend as long as a person needs on the phone to resolve their issues…mostly it’s confusion on their part. A grand-daughter may have unplugged their system, which gives us a warning that it is unplugged and we call and resolve the issue with that person…or we get their family involved if need be. Sometimes it’s sad that when we call a client they have evolved to not even remembering they have a medical alarm system, that’s our first alert to call the family and let them know they should look into their loved one’s situation.

So I’d say…we don’t have any complaints, but we do have many thanks from many people and organizations around the country. We even do charitable work for many hospitals, Agencies, the American Red Cross…as well as feeding people in Los Angeles, feeding 150 school children daily in Namibia for the past year. We like to give back, it makes us feel good.

Sorry for the long winded answer J

Regardless who you choose take your time you’re asking the right questions…and that’s always what I advise people to do.

Best Regards,

Jeff

My grandmother just had a fall and I want to make sure she is protected as soon as possible. If I order your senior medical alert system today, how long will it take before she receives it?

Also is there any extra charge for shipping?

Robin
Alexandria, VA

Hi Robin,

We send all of our medical alarm orders priority mail with the post office, which normally takes 2-3 days to arrive. There is no charge for shipping unless you’d like your order sent overnight.

We take pride in getting out each order in the mail the same day it is received, no matter what it takes.

One of my most memorable moments this year was talking to a daughter in Pennsylvania who was almost in tears after her mother had an emergency at home and she wanted to get her protected immediately. She asked if we could overnight the order. It was late in the day, around 5:30, and FedEx was closing at 6:00. I told her we would do everything we could to get her the order in time.

Even before I got off the phone, our president Roni, was racing to the equipment room to get the unit packed up. After I hung up, she handed me the package and I ran outside to my car. With a rare Los Angeles rain storm pouring down on my car, I managed to arrive at the FedEx store just in the nick of time.

When I got to work the next day, I quickly turned on my computer and tracked the package. It had arrived in Pennsylvania at 10:30 AM the next morning! I immediately called the customer to make sure she had received it and was filled with satisfaction as she thanked me, overjoyed at our effort.

Just another day at the office.

Noah

I’d like to sign up for your medical alarm service for my mother but with the holiday season passing us I wanted to make sure that she will be protected every day of the year, including weekends and holidays.  Are there any times you are closed?

Ann
Lincoln, Nebraska

Hi Ann,

Our medical alarm monitoring service is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. In other words, there is no time where your mother won’t be protected.

And if you just want to call us in the business office with a question or concern, we’re available Monday through Saturday during business hours. And even on Sunday or during off hours, if you leave us a message, we’ll call you back as soon as possible!

I hope this helps,

Noah

Question from Carol:

We need to cancel our medical alarm service with Get Help Now  will we get a refund for the months not used?

Mom is now in a nursing home…she so loved how all of your people treated her. Mom said she felt so comfortable staying at home knowing that Roni or Michelle would call her and chat from time to time. She was really moved by the love she received from you guys.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all companies operated the way you all do?

Thanks so much,

Carol

Grand Rapids, MI

Hi Carol,

How sweet thank you! Of course you will receive a refund for all months not used. We’ll miss Rose’s calls she is a doll. Tell her to give us a call from the nursing home when she is lonely. She’s a real hoot.

Be well,

Jeff

I am researching medical alarm companies for my mother who lives in Twin Rocks, Pennsylvania. She is 90 years old and lives on her own. Do you use the nearest response team or do you have certain company under contract?

Robin

Hi Robin,

Bless your mom, I love hearing that a 90 year old is living on their own.

As for the response team, we always use the local 911 first responders…we just have a direct number into them in each and every town in the United States. These are the best responders money can buy  Splash page graphic.

I hope this answers your question,

Noah

I am impressed by your very affordable prices on your medical alert necklaces.

I am concerned though that, after I purchase your system, my monthly charge will go up in the future. Could that happen?

Joe
Cherry Hill, NJ

Hi Joe,

The answer to your question is simple. Absolutely not. Your monthly charge for using our medical alarm system will never go up.

I hope this helps,

Noah

I’m considering a senior medical device for my uncle. He lives in a senior community where you have to dial “9″ before any number is dialed on each residents phone. He also has DSL in the apartment.

Will your system work with his phone service?

Ann
San Francisco, CA

Hi Ann,

The Get Help Now medical alarm is fully compatible to work with DSL and any residence that require a “9″, or any number for that matter, to be dialed. Just let us know beforehand and we will send you out the proper unit.

I hope this helps,

Noah

My mother lives in the middle of nowhere in Huntsville, Alabama. She recently had a fall which scared her so I’m now looking at getting her a medical alert so she can feel safer.

I understand that in case of an emergency your service can call nearby relatives, friends or neighbors to meet the emergency services and open the door. Unfortunately, my mothers home isn’t close enough to anyone for that to be a viable option.

If we leave a hidden key somewhere, would the paramedics know where to find it? I don’t want her door broken down in case of an emergency or, even worse, a delay getting inside the home.

Robin
Memphis, TN

Hi Robin,

Your concern is something I hear every day from relatives calling to ask questions about how our medical alert service works. The fact is, even if you did have friends, relatives or neighbors with a key nearby, there is never a guarantee they would be available to meet the paramedics in case of an emergency.

So to answer your question, if you do keep a hidden key on the premises, all you would need to do is tell us the location and if any emergency personal were sent to the home, we’d alert them to the exact location upon dispatch.

In fact, we offer a free gift with each new order of our senior medical alert system. One of the free gift options is a lock box to hide your key in. I think you’ll find this a great piece of mind for you and your family.

I hope this helps,

Noah

The system seems adequate, especially for serious troubles, and for a situation where the person wearing the alarm is alone. However, it may be unnecessary if the problem is not serious and there is actually someone nearby to help.

Is it possible to have an alarm that, in the first instance, signal to another person (say, a household member who may be in a different room) that the senior needs some help or monitoring?

Thank you,

Kanitta
KAAAWA, Hawaii

Hi Kanitta,

This is a very commonly requested question, and you are quite correct that often we do not have to call for 911. If someone is in the house they will hear the very loud tone of our system and the booming voice over the speaker box.

Alternatively, if the person wearing the alarm can speak and informs our operator that he only needs one of his/her contacts alerted but not the paramedics, then that is all we will do.

However, should you or the person with the problem not respond, then of course, for the safety of your loved one, we will dispatch 911.

Usually there is plenty of time before we dispatch for you to become aware of the situation. Our system is designed to be heard well throughout a 3500 square foot house.

I hope this helps, and thank you for asking,

Noah
